LABC partners with NFCC on virtual learning portal for protection-based fire and rescue service staff

LABC has partnered with NFCC to give fire safety regulators and fire engineers access to dedicated training materials through a new learning portal.

LABC’s award winning Learning and Development team’s Virtual Learning Environment can now be securely accessed to upload training materials for Fire and Rescue Services as part of the NFCC’s national learning and guidance work. The dedicated fire safety portal provides access to a back catalogue of over a 100 existing LABC fire-safety related learning resources. It provides certificates for e-learning packages completed within the virtual learning environment and reporting that supports fire services when it comes to demonstrating their commitment to continuing professional development in line with the competency framework recommendations. Importantly, this collaboration provides a better understanding of the ‘cross-over’ issues faced by both parties in carrying out their regulatory functions.

NFCC Chair Mark Hardingham said “I am pleased to see the launch of this learning platform for our protection-based staff. Fire and rescue services are committed to do everything they can to make buildings safer and creating this partnership is the next step in a journey to enhance competency across the UK.”

LABC Chief Executive, Lorna Stimpson, added, “This is an important step for both organisations who are at the forefront of regulatory change to make buildings safer. We are delighted to be sharing our industry leading virtual learning environment with colleagues at the NFCC and with fire and rescue services who share many similar challenges in the emerging new regulatory framework.”
