BC Property History Search

If you require a building control history search carried out, all search requests must be submitted in writing (ie letter, email) and a payment of £14 per property submitted at the same time. Please note that the fee relates to the search and does not guarantee that we will find any of the following:

  • Application - if this is the case, dependent on the age of the works carried out at the property, they may be required to be regularised and a further fee will be payable. (We do not deduct the money paid on the search from the regularisation fee).

  • Paperwork (eg, completion certificate) - this may be again due to the age of the application, or a completion inspection may not have been requested, in which case, depending on the age of the application, a final inspection could be arranged. However a completion certificate would only be issued when works have complied with the regulations. Any outstanding issues would have to be rectified, but you would be informed of the required action to be taken by the partnership.

  • Approved Inspector - the development may not have been inspected by us but by a private building control company (Approved Inspector). If this is the case then you will be informed of which company and any contact details we have. Any paperwork required should then be requested directly from the Approved Inspector and they may charge a fee for this.

If you require copies of either completion certificates or approval documentation (if available) these are charged at £1 per copy.

Payment is required before the search is undertaken. We can accept the following payment methods:

  • Cash (at reception);
  • Cheque (by post or at reception);
  • Card Payments (By telephone 01634 33 11 33 or at reception)

We have 10 working days from the date we receive your request to carry out the search.
